Important information about your energy supply

You recently received an email about your energy contract. With the uncertain energy context across Europe today, energy suppliers are no longer willing to offer similar conditions to previous years. WDP therefore engaged independent energy engineering firm Zero Emission Solutions to negotiate the most advantageous energy contract for your business.

Here’s what we did

We contacted eight different suppliers, including Luminus, ENGIE, Eneco, Total Energies, and BEE. We asked them for several proposals for 2023, based on the following priorities:

A fixed price

A clickable price (variable with option to lock in price)

A monthly variable price

A fully variable hourly rate contract

Two suppliers responded to our request: Engie and Yuso. Both exclusively offered a fully variable hourly pricing model. After comparison, Engie was found to offer the best terms for both gas and electricity purchases. Want to read the full report of the negotiations? Then click here.

WDP’s experts worked closely with our external partner, Zero Emission Solutions, to negotiate the best possible energy contract for your business. After thorough study, both gas and electricity energy contracts for 2023 could be awarded to Engie. You do not need to take any action yourself at this point. WDP ensures a smooth transition to the new contract so that your energy supply is guaranteed at all times.

Hourly rate contract (or ‘Day-Ahead-Market model’): important to know

This model is the only one still offered by suppliers in this extremely volatile energy market. It is based on hourly prices published and traded one day before on the European EPEX Spot Price Market. These prices are the most rudimentary product and follow a daily profile determined by the market. As a result, they cannot be fixed and are therefore not predictable.

2. Select “BPB Belgian Power Base Load Futures” for electricity or “TFM-Dutch TTF Natural Gas Base Load Futures” for gas.

3. Click “Cal 23”.

The values of one-year contracts are similar to these prices. Please note that certain additional costs, like a (limited) supplier fee, applicable taxes and distribution costs, will be added to the basic energy rates.
